Lars Tvinde

Lars Tvinde (1886-1973) was one of the pillars of Det Norske Teater. For 53 years, he performed practically without a break until his retirement in 1956.
Dozens of different roles
During these years he qualified as a great actor through dozens of different roles. He was awarded the King's Medal of Merit in gold and an artist's scholarship.
Singing Voss dialect
Lars Tvinde was from Voss and he cultivated and maintained his singing Voss dialect throughout his career. It was a local drama group in Voss that inspired Lars Tvinde to dream of a stage career.
Ivar Aasen's Ervingen
Lars Tvinde made his debut in Det Norske Teater's initial production of Ivar Aasen's "Ervingen". It was a small part, but it convinced Lars Tvinde that his life was in the theatre.
