Tordis Maurstad (1901-1997)

Norwegian actress

Tordis Maurstad (1901-1997) belonged to Norway's acting elite for several decades. Maurstad was well equipped when she made her way to the capital from her hometown Kristiansund. Her father, Albert Witzøe, was a culture bearer there and inspired in the young Tordis Maurstad a love of words and of writing. However, she was attracted to the theatre.

Det Norske Teatret

Tordis Maurstad was given her first acting job at Det Norske Teatret (The Norwegian Theatre) in 1923. Her first parts were not very challenging, but she was given more important roles as time went on. Maurstadoften played opposite Lars Tvinde and Edvard Drabløs.
In the course of 58 years as an actress, Tordis Maurstad played 160 parts.
