Contemporary Colombian artist

The work of contemporary Colombian artist Fernanado Botero is well known throughout the world. His exaggerated rendering of fleshy human, animal, and still-life figures has become an unmistakable characteristic of his style.
His work includes still-life and landscapes, but Botero tends to primarily focus on situational portraiture. His paintings and sculptures are, on first examination, noted for their exaggerated proportions and the corpulence of the human figures and animal figures.

Sculptures

Botero began to produce sculpture in the 70s. His work in a three-dimensional art was a natural progression for an artist singularly dedicated to expressing volume and mass. Sculpture offered him a tangible means to give volume presence and reality. Girl with Bow reflects Botero's distinctive style of voluptuous smooth shapes, sensual patina, and unexpected shifts in scale.

Space and volume
