Giacomo Balla (1871-1958)Italian painterPainter Giacomo Balla was born on 27 July 1871 in Turin, Italy. He studied briefly at the Academia Albertina in Turin and moved to Rome in 1895. Regularly Balla took part in exhibitions of the society Degli Amatori e Cultori di Belle Arti.Manifesto of Futurist PaintersIn 1900, Giacomo Balla sojourned in Paris and moved to Rome a year later. In Rome he met Emilio Marinetti. He teached Umberto Boccioni and Gino Severini.Together with Boccioni, Severini, Varlo Carra and Luigi Russolo, Giacomo Balla signed the Technical Manifesto of Futurist Painters on 11 February 1910. Balla produced his first futurist painting "Dynamism of a Dog on a Leash" in 1912. Later styleAround 1930 he reverted to painting in a realist style.Giacomo Balla died in Rome on 1 March 1958.
